The bible does not state one way or the other whether animals will be in heaven. This is one of those great mysteries that we will just have to wait and find out for certain.
However, the bible does say that God gave man dominion over the animals. This means that whether they come to heaven or not, we will be accountable for how we treat them. I’m not suggesting that we all join PETA or give to the WWF, but I am saying that we need to be kind to the animals. It surprises me how many people have pets that shouldn’t. I see some people with animals that live in cages, when they need to be free to roam. I’ve seen pet owners keep their animals outside in sub-zero temps or leave them in cars with no windows open in 90+ degree weather. If you don’t have the time, money, room, patience, or love for an animal, don’t get one!
I am also not suggesting that we treat animals like humans either. Do you know the first recorded animal killed in the bible was killed by God? He skinned an animal to clothe Adam and Eve after they sinned!
So feel free to enjoy that burger. Feel free to get a pet, but know that God gave us the responsibility of looking after the animals, and someday we will have to give an account for our actions!
